CONSULATE OF THE REPUBLIC OF ARMENIA
KINGDOM OF THAILAND
Calling on all political and diplomatic establishments, all domestic and local mass media and civic bodies of the Kingdom of Thailand:
Following the destruction (by ISIS) of the Armenian Genocide Memorial Church in Der Zor, which was consecrated in 1991 in memoriam of more than one and half million victims of the Armenian Genocide, and while this has taken place during the Anniversary week of the Independence of the Republic of Armenia and on the Centenary year of the Armenian Genocide, the Consulate of the Republic of Armenia to the Kingdom of Thailand strongly condemns the new form of cultural genocide, the barbaric, brutal and cynical destruction of this sacred Armenian Church and voices its appeal in conjunction with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of the Republic of Armenia, requesting the government of the Kingdom of Thailand and ASEAN Leadership respectively, to take all necessary measures against this criminal act and furthermore, find ways to prevent future similar violations of sacred venues, actively engaging in the preservation of historic values and human dignity.
